Introducing Sofie Hogestol

It’s our great pleasure today to welcome Sofie A. E. Høgestøl as an IntLawGrrls contributor.  Sofie is a Research Fellow in Law at the University of Oslo, where she is a researcher at PluriCourts (a new research center of excellence on the study of international courts). She is currently writing her PhD thesis on the Special Court for Sierra Leone.

 Sofie received her BSc in International Relations at the London School of Economics, and a Graduate Diploma in Law at the College of Law of England and Wales. In 2011, Sofie was a Norwegian Fulbright Scholar at the Georgetown University Law Centre, where she completed her LLM. At Georgetown Sofie also worked as a Research Assistant in human rights law, and received the Thomas B. Chetwood S. J. Prize for attaining the highest academic average in her LLM program.

 Sofie has previously worked as a trainee at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in the fall of 2012 she also worked as an intern at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia. In spring 2013 she taught international human rights law at the Royal University of Law and Economics (RULE), in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. At RULE she also helped coach the 2013 Cambodian JESSUP Team.
